We back!
Well, as you can see, we’re back, and oh how I’ve missed you! I’m sure you have some questions, so let me get you caught up quickly.
So what happened to the original #CoolShit & ACF?
When we last spoke, Tim & I were shifting our focus from ACF (our experimental marketing agency) to build Boosta (a tech startup). Back in 2020 in made perfect sense for this pivot. COVID destroyed the experiential business for 2+ years, plus we had been building Boosta behind closed doors so what better time to launch a remote training app than during a global pandemic.
Sending the #CoolShit newsletter daily was a perfect compliment to what we were doing at ACF. It forced us to stay in “the know” and we were happy to share that info with our friends.
But, #CoolShit didn’t have a role with us building Boosta so, we took a break.
So what happened to Boosta?
In short, we built an incredible & transformative training tool with Boosta.
We watched players from all over the world use Boosta every day.
We partnered with Duke University in a first of a kind NIL deal.
All in all we built a system that WORKS but… turning a startup into a viable business is HARD.
We are not done with Boosta by any means. We have plenty of coals still burning in that fire and ultimately believe that Boosta will eventually have the impact on the world that we originally intended it to have.
So ACF is back?
In the time we spent away from ACF, Tim & I learned SO SO MUCH about business. By building Boosta, we were able to gain a fresh & new perspective on ACF that we quite frankly would never have if we never stepped away.
We saw how special ACF truly was, the projects, the clients, the people - there was something magical there.
What was the real deciding factor for flipping the ACF switch back on, was soft pitching that we were considering doing so to a couple of our old clients. We didn’t expect the response. They IMMEDIATELY & HAPPILY welcomed us back with open arms 😬 (more to come on that at a later date).
So yes, ACF is BACK and we not only look forward to picking up where we left off, but taking it further than we ever thought we could. We already have projects in the works and are building the perfect team. To be honest, the level of talent & experience of the people we’re adding to the team is SUPID! Again, more to come later.
So #BrainFood is just a new name for #CoolShit?
Yep! A daily-ish newsletter full of interesting & important internet tidbits that we think you probably haven’t seen yet, but need to know about.
#CoolShit was never meant to turn into anything other than a quick email to some executive friends of ours. But, it took on a life of its own. This time around, we want to give this newsletter a chance to reach as broad of an audience as possible and by doing something as simple as changing the name to #BrainFood (and adding some fun branding) we believe it can be an important part of our future plans.
