Bitcoin hit $100k/coin
Skip if you don’t want to hear my Bitcoin rant…
Yes, I still believe Bitcoin is the future of money/commerce. No, $100k is not the ceiling.
Since I believe that Bitcoin is positioned to be a global currency, you can use the global commerce market, an estimated $105 trillion dollars, as our baseline. If Bitcoin were to be 5% of all global commerce, its price would need to be roughly $250k per coin. Lots of variables but, technology is shrinking the world. The world will need a currency to support true global commerce. Maybe its USD, maybe its YEN, or maybe its a decentralized, scarce, and secure currency that is owned by the people ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
For the curious, here is AI’s rebuttal to my rant:
Bitcoin as a Global Currency: The idea that Bitcoin could become a global currency is supported by its decentralized, scarce, and secure nature. These attributes make it appealing as a potential alternative to traditional fiat currencies, particularly in regions with unstable local currencies or where there is a desire for financial autonomy.
Global Commerce Baseline: Using the estimated $105 trillion global GDP as a baseline for all commerce is reasonable. This figure represents the total economic output of goods and services worldwide, making it a comprehensive measure for evaluating Bitcoin’s potential market share.
Bitcoin Valuation at 5% of Global Commerce: Calculating 5% of the $105 trillion global GDP gives $5.25 trillion. Dividing this by the approximately 19.8 million Bitcoins in circulation results in a value of about $265,152 per Bitcoin, which aligns closely with your estimate of roughly $250k per coin.
Your brain on music
Emotional Regulation for Parents and Children: Music can be a powerful tool for managing stress and emotions. Parents who engage in musical activities with their children report lower stress levels and improved emotional connection. By singing or listening to music together, you can simultaneously support your own mental health and strengthen your family bond.
Cognitive Development and Work Performance: Musical engagement isn’t just enjoyable—it’s a brain-boosting activity. Music can improve working memory, listening skills, and reasoning abilities, which directly translate to better problem-solving at work and enhanced academic performance for children. By incorporating music into your daily routine, you’re investing in cognitive development for both yourself and your children.
Holistic Family Wellness: Music offers a multi-dimensional approach to health. It can reduce cortisol levels, improve social bonding, and create positive shared experiences. Simple activities like singing in the car, making music during chores, or enjoying live music together can transform everyday moments into opportunities for connection, learning, and joy
Son of ‘El Mago,’ Sinaloa cartel legend killed in L.A., seeks new family legacy
Rise and Fall of Eduardo Escobedo Sr.: Eduardo Escobedo Sr., known as “El Mago,” rose from poverty in East Los Angeles to become a major cannabis distributor for the Sinaloa cartel, working closely with Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán’s son. Despite leaving the drug trade and building a successful hibachi business, whispers of money laundering persisted. He was killed in 2023 under mysterious circumstances, raising questions about his past ties.
Family Legacy and Business Success: Escobedo’s son, Eddie, recounts his father’s journey from selling cannabis to running a profitable hibachi chain, “Benihibachi,” which reported $12 million in income by its third year. Despite suspicions of illicit activities, Eddie insists the business’s success is legitimate, attributing it to long lines and multiple locations.
Cartel Conflict and Personal Reflections: The Sinaloa cartel is embroiled in a power struggle following El Chapo’s imprisonment, with factions led by his sons vying for control. Eddie reflects on his father’s advice against the drug trade, emphasizing that the risks outweigh the profits. He plans to expand the family business and write a book about his father’s life, distancing himself from the cartel world.
